Stars shine at NYC social event of the year

Another day, another star studded event in New York City.

Last night, anyone who is anyone in Hollywood gathered at the annual Met Costume Institute Gala.

Katy Perry was the talk of the town as she showed up in a dress which literally shone. Complete with LED lights, Katy's dress sure caught photographers' attention.

English rose Emma Watson wore a Christopher Bailey creation. (Perk of the job?) White, one shouldered - beautiful. Her hair looks beautiful and elegant too.

Blake Lively made her way from the Upper East side in an embellished sapphire blue Marchesa mini dress, bucking the floor length gown trend in style.

Bucking the trend even further was Alexa Chung. Opting for a Philip Lim tuxedo.

Most of Hollywood's finest played it safe. Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria-Parker channelled old Hollywood glamour. Alba wore a nude satin Sophie Theallet for GAP gown while the desperate housewive wore a Marchesa gown complete with train.

Stars at one of the highlights of the NYC social calendar celebrated the evening, which theme was 'American Women' in diverse style. Leading high street retailer GAP sponsored the event.

Jude Law and Sienna Miller also caught the press attention as the pair made their first public appearance since reigniting their relationship last year.

Sienna, forget Jude, all eyes were on that fabulous dress.
