The time of the cinema-goers

It's getting to that time of year again when going to the cinema is actually something to get really excited about. Yes, I do love a nice trip to see the latest film, my most recent one being The Town with Ben Affleck about a group of bank robbers in Charlestown, the "bank robbing capital of America", according to the action film's tagline, and tonight is no different.

My Friday night is going to be spent watching the much anticipated film about the creation of social networking phenomenon Facebook. The Social Network, which comes out today (15 October) follows Mark Zuckerberg and crew who dropped out of Harvard University only to become the world's youngest billionnaires. Pretty nifty ey?

The excitement goes beyond this little two hour stint in the movie theatre though, a much more exciting film to have popped up on my agenda for the 19 November is nothing other than the first part of the finale in the  Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one in 2D (the second part will be shown in 3D) is taking Hollywood by storm and I for one can't wait.

Film promoters for the Harry Potter film are hammering the exposure (as they should) and have just released new character posters. Have a look for yourself here. The countdown begins here.

Oh Alejandro

She's done it again. Twitter and Facebook went mad for it and mixed opinions came all around but Lady Gaga has got us all talking. Her latest vid for 'Alejandro' could easily challenge Christina Aguilera's 'Not myself tonight' (which by the way is alleged to be a sattire of Gaga anyway). The eight minute long video is if nothing else, strange. But it is strangely engrossing and the extravogance of it is just one talking point.

The alien like mechanisms, the fashions, the bra that could challenge Madonna's John Paul Gaultier one (I said could), the wigs and the sex. That's not to mention the stilletto-wearing men in trunks, eyebrow-less Gaga and the bondage. I do love the black waistcoat and trousers combo, very early Friends in the 90s.

I do wonder where Gaga can go next though. It's not like she can turn her back on weird and wonderful and do a run of the mill mariah-esque vid. The Gaga social networking will continue but I will let you decide for yourself; is it a step to far or are these Gaga-isms the future of music?

It should come with an explicit material warning though, that must be said.

Easy like a Sunday evening

It's one of those Sundays. You know the kind I mean, the kind where it rains all day and then by about 6pm summer decides to make an appearance. Well hence the rain, not much has been on the agenda for today. I reaffirmed my love for James Cameron's Avatar (amazing film, if you haven't watched it yet, you're missing out) and celebrated the return of the sunshine with a bit of Luther Vandross; a song that was kindly planted into my head at the beginning of the weekend by one of my lovely vino drinking friends. I reminisced about the past year by flicking through the hundreds of photos that are now housed on my Facebook profile and decided which ones to print, all ready for moving into my new house in September. My recent adventures include London Fashion Weekend and Paris. How apt that today I am wearing my 'I love Paris' tee (madatory purchase). Oh and don't forget the infamous Adventure Week. I also discovered Kevin Bridges, a newcomer Glaswegian comedian. I see big things happening for this 23 year old. Have a look for him on YouTube if you fancy a giggle.
